A dear friend who currently works in Singapore got this early present for me...

Karl Lagerfeld for Sephora Eyeshadow Palette

I basically squealed when I unwrapped the present and saw what it was. Because this eyeshadow palette was only released in Singapore and Europe, I was so sure it would be sold out the moment it hit the stores. I vaguely remember asking her (months ago) if she could take a peek and check it out for me. So so so happy :D thank you!!!

So, if you find yourself stumped as to what to get me, you can get some ideas here. Even if I don't receive the items listed above for my birthday, I am going to save up for them because I have been lusting over these products/accessories for quite some time.

Last year, I managed to make it through the ENTIRE YEAR without buying any bags! So pleased with myself. This year, I will aim to cut back on more unnecessary items.. Here's to 2012!!

He has been spot on with everything else in my life and health/wealth wise too, so *just this once* I will do as I am told- by a total stranger.

So my blog is getting a WHITEOUT treatment too.

I like it better now, clean and simple.

The Chanel Spring 2012 Harmonie de Printemps is "an enchanting makeup collection inspired by springtime skies".

Every season, I have to convince myself what I DON'T need. And it's not an easy task. Some Limited Edition releases are one-of-a-kind, like this blush, and I would not want to miss out!

I am trying to save some money for my yearly travels but I justify my Chanel makeup purchases with the fact that I rarely purchase makeup from other brands.

Their glosses and lippies from this collection don't appeal much to me but I am contemplating on getting the Christmas Rouge Allure Laque- Empire & Dragon (rumoured to be discontinued soon).

Christmas this year was fun, I spent it with some of my closest friends playing the "White Elephant gift exchange" and scored myself a Starbucks Giftcard!

My birthday is in a month and I have already gotten myself an early birthday/Christmas present (: I am so happy with it and I get to cross off an item from my MateriaList! Also, I will be celebrating my birthday OUT OF THE COUNTRY! IN MELBOURNE! YES, MELBOURNE! AGAIN! HAHAHAHAHA

Yes, I just came back a week ago and I will be visiting again in Jan!! Am counting down the days.. 24!!

I haven't abandoned this blog- the past few months have been hectic.. I had been writing beauty reviews for a lifestyle website, and on top of that work has been craaaaazy busy. I rarely saw my friends and was getting easily agitated from the lack of sleep.

But you know what, all that's changing TODAY because though I am at work this very moment, I will be flying off in a few hours to MELBOURNE!

I usually pack 1-2 months ahead of my trips but this time? I did almost overnight *proud*.

Am very excited to see my little sister again and stroll the streets of Melbourne.

10 TEN 10 days of r&r with the family. Life is good.

The Autumn 2011 Collection has just been released today (where I live) and I popped by to have a look before lunch..

Quite a few products were released but the only thing I want is the nail polish in Peridot. Which is a good thing actually, because I foresee myself picking up a few items from the next collection...

10 Things I ♥

I was tagged by Lippi and to narrow down all the things I love into 10 points is no small feat, because I do enjoy a lot of things- but here are my top LOVES in no particular order ♥.

1. SHOES! ♥

circa 2008 in Melbourne

I go a little weak in the knees whenever I walk past a Shoe shop on SALE. Cheap, expensive, heels, flats.. they all appeal to me. Super high were my favourite in the past, but these days I stick to platforms and moderate heels.

2. TRAVELLING! ♥

Taiwan streets

Every year I try to do a bit of travelling (with great company of course!)- it doesn't have to be somewhere exotic or foreign. I just love soaking up the culture, food, people, lifestyle and everything my destination offers. It is interesting to see how in different parts of the world and country, things are done differently than where I live. I would want to try everything once but I am not very open to (unusual) local delicacies- I generally won't do insects, testicles, brains or eyeballs. Other meat/body parts I think I can handle.

3. TECHNOLOGY! ♥

Never ceases to amaze me, the things we are able to do today compared to 10 years ago. I can communicate with my sister who is an 8-hr plane ride away for FREE. Voice, messages, videos, games before we sleep. It's like she never left home. I can get shopping advice from Jargs/request to see Melbieco even late at night. Browsing the Internet and shopping is even possible via a mobile phone these days! Totally unheard of back in 2001!

4. CHANEL! ♥

Mine someday (:

I probably sound materialistic, but I really do love Chanel, the brand, for both beauty and fashion. Bags, makeup, fragrance, nail polish, earrings and necklaces. I spent a small fortune on these things even before I started earning my own money (I saved up from my monthly allowance), I consider bags and accessories from this brand an investment- they will last me for many years to come.

5. BUBBLE BATHS! ♥

When I own my first home, I would most definitely want a bathtub to go with. I find it so relaxing and for that 20 mins I only focus on how the water temperature feels, the tension melting away.. bliss!

6. PHOTOGRAPHY! ♥

I enjoy being behind the lens as much as being in front. Moments are really hard to capture but when I manage to get that one perfect/imperfect shot, its gold. These pictures tell a story and each time I look at it, the memory plays back like a tape. I can feel the laughter, scent, and emotion when that particular shot was taken. The same goes for great shots by other people- sometimes you can just feel what the subject/photographer is trying to photograph.

7. BEAUTY PRODUCTS! ♥

8. PUPPIES! ♥

Little balls of fur! Dogs are the cutest when they are puppies because they do the silliest things. They walk clumsily, have no coordination with their paws and playthings, they eat so enthusiastically, soft paws, they are just cute! *snuggles* So amusing to watch them play on their own.

9. MELBOURNE! ♥

I have never been to a more well-planned and convenient city, everything you would need is within your fingertips. Public transportation is readily available and most tram lines run past your doorstep (if you live in the city). The food is excellent, because they have so many different nationalities which migrated there, you can find authentic Japanese, Korean, Greek, Italian, French, Thai.. the list goes on. They have beautiful parks and old buildings within the city and shopping is great too.

10. FOIE GRAS! ♥

YUM!

This is the last on my list but it doesn't mean anything- I really enjoy foie gras, duck and goose. The texture, the taste, oh I can't even describe it. It is so rich, but not disgustingly so. Most people think that it is cruel to force feed an animal to fatten it up, but did you know that ducks and geese have no gag reflex nor do they feel any pain during the process? It is no different from rearing chickens in coops or injecting cows with rGBH for their milk.

I only intended to pick up the Avene Cleanance K moisturizer but I got stuck at the Liese section looking longingly at the Chiffon Beige dyes. The B-liv masks (only MYR 5) were screaming to be picked up at the cashier counter and after resisting the Skinlite cucumber pads for many months I finally caved in. They were on Sale too (MYR 8 I think?). I do use face mists and this Caudalie Grape Water spray looked so lonely sitting by itself on the shelf (last bottle) plus it was cheaper than Avene so I grabbed it too.

Staff purchase week ends tomorrow and I cant believe it slipped my mind. Am thinking of a Shu Uemura cleansing oil, maybe a day moisturizer, or a Chanel lippie?

Must. Resist. Temptation!

NEW: I did quite a bit of damage in the past week- I'm waiting for my ASOS parcel to arrive, my GMarket mini-haul (which is being shipped to my sister in Melb) and I now have an item on "lay-by" HAHA. *looks at Jagi*. Most of them are investment pieces which I can picture myself wearing 10 years down the road so I'm feeling less guilty about my purchases.

Recent ZARA purchases include a skirt which I lusted over back in February.

The last time I bought shoes was back in May (on Holidays) so this is a MAJOR improvement, I used to buy shoes almost every week. I have close to 10 pairs which are brand new and untouched, and no I am not exaggerating.

I have a weakness when it comes to shoes- my rationale is that, I might grow out of my clothes but I'm always a constant size when it comes to shoes (and bags).

After throwing those 4 out, I treated myself to a brand new pair..

Retail Therapy..

I only paid for the Chanel Concealer, the Aesop Primrose Mask and the Anna Sui Gel Moisturizer. The rest are freebies!

MUST BUYS in Melb: ♥ Alannah Hill headbands, Peter Alexander PJs, delicious smelling body creams, Target opaque tights (LOVE this its great quality x value) and Garnier CleanSensitive Eye Make-Up Remover.

I realized I am buying less these days, counting every penny and thinking twice if it is something I need or just want. Can I wear this next season? Would I wear it more than once? Do I have something similar? I ended up saving so much that I could afford to splurge on a vintage LV (which looks totally new) ♥

It is time to throw out/donate some shoes again.. this trip, I brought back approximately 15 pairs of shoes. Only 3 are my sister's, 1 which I just bought and the rest were from when I left Melbourne in 2009. And after that, can you believe I STILL have stuff in my sister's apartment?

The whole week went by so fast, when I was taking my last shower it felt like I just landed. Holidays are much appreciated once you have to work and realize time is not at your disposal anymore. That said, I am happy to be home, though the heat is killing me and I can't wait for my next trip!

My trip in Melb has been awesome so far, all I have been doing is eating, shopping, taking long walks and revisiting places I used to hang out. I was even at my old University today.

This time around my visit was less hectic, I had no itinerary- I just woke up when I felt like it and went wherever I felt like. The last trip I made sure we ate at different restaurants and covered my fave spots, but this trip I've eaten at Mart 130 twice and I feel like having breakfast there tomorrow.

Such a different vibe this time around. I am enjoying every minute of it.. Cold weather and all. Will be back on Sunday!

A black WII!! OMG! So excited! Ive been lemming for one since they came out YEARS AGO but I thought it was a passing fad so I refrained.

Until today! My sister's bf, Roy, informed me that Big W was having a great deal on (AUD 188!!!) but when we checked it out in-stores they were going for the usual AUD 298 for the black set. Roy was so nice to check with the SA and true enough, they had the deal advertised but just didn't display it! (Wii party, my dear friends?? :D)

So excited I'm going to test out the set in a while, I didn't get additional controllers and other accessories because it would be cheaper back in KL. There is a catch to this deal I scored though, but I will reveal it when I return to KL. No, my set isn't a display unit, defective or anything like that- it's just something between my Sis, Roy and I :D

So yeah people if you are in Australia, and are looking to buy a Nintendo Wii, check out Big W!

Note: Roy just updated me that Wii 2 may be out next year, but it's okay it's still a STEAL to me!

Bittersweet

Am on the way to the airport now, I thought I would be deliriously happy, but it doesn't feel that way. I am happy to see my sister again and hug her and laugh till we cry but the discovery which I made earlier seems to have clouded such feelings.

"This too shall pass." Happiness is but an interval between two sorrows, as is sorrow is nothing but an interval between two happinesses.

I am capable of forgiving but I can never forget. Why should I? I can't seem to put into words how it feels. I dont enjoy doubting every moment or thought, it makes me feel insecure and i find myself wasting so much energy on it. If I can figure out the source, I will most definitely cut it off. Bad energy only attracts bad energy.

*Breathes in, breathes out* I will enjoy my week away. How i feel ultimately is up to me. Melbourne 2011 will be good (:

Quickie

Just a short one before I snuggle into bed. The last two weeks (and upcoming) have been hectic for me, and I find myself with so little time to really unwind and take deep breaths.

My social and work calendar has been so packed, I haven't even started packing for my trip. (WHICH IS NEXT WEEK!! Omg!!) I usually start packing AT LEAST a month before I fly. Slowly adding and removing articles of clothing, shoes, and what not until I am completely satisfied with my selections.

Right now my luggage has stuff in it but none belong to me! They are for my sister and some friends. Because of my packed schedule, and me realizing I dont have much time for myself, I have become cranky and highly irritable for the past week.

JagiBOY knew how much (or rather how little) time I had to do my own things, he even agreed to let me celebrate his bday 2 weeks early. I honestly couldn't find time to throw him a party closer to his birthday. He's such a dear (: He also knew I've had a rough week and cheered me up with a little luxury and laughter..

I also did a mini haul earlier tonight at SASA, two Kao Liese bubble dyes and a Sexy Girl set. I have just Liese-d my hair, and yes I used 2 bottles this time as my hair is getting very long and used the remainder on JagiBOY. He looks hot! Haha. After trying Marshmallow Brown and Ash Brown, I have to say I love Chiffon Beige the best. Comparison in my next few posts hopefully!

I wish I knew how to make better use of my time. It's not that i haven't sat down and thought about where I've wasted time but I have, and I honestly dont know to stretch it out.

Okay my quickie didn't turn out to be so quick afterall. I'm off to bed now, early seminar tomorrow till 5pm and then off to run some errands before meeting up with friends for dessert/second round dinner. I think I need to start taking Multivitamins.

Weekends..

Are meant to be time for some R&R but I haven't been feeling 100% the past two Saturdays and did a bit of shopping in a bid to cheer myself up.

I was previously on a makeup/cosmetics ban but I don't know when it lifted because for the past month I have found

myself at home with small bags of cosmetics, somehow unaware of how I let myself go. As of today, the ban is in effect again.

Last week I checked out MAC's Quite Cute collection with Jagi..

Everything was really quite cute, I didn't take pics of the canapes but we had heart shaped smoked salmon on bread, macarons and a few other types. I managed to control myself from any impulse purchases and kept telling myself that I should check out Chanel first before deciding.

I told the SA I was looking for a natural lip colour, she tried Fanfare on me and I was sold! This was the only thing I picked up.

After MAC, we headed to Chanel and my fave SA informed us that the Spring 2011 makeup collection was going to be in 1st May! She told us to check it out online and if we liked anything to give her a buzz and she'd hold it. One of the reasons why I keep going back to her is because she actually remembers me, my name, my sister, and the last time I bought from her was almost a yr ago! It's been almost 3 yrs now since I was first served by her. Great customer service always gets me returning!

What we saw today..

I had already done some research prior to visiting today so I knew exactly what I wanted plus I had called up a few days ago to reserve it.

Rouge Coco Shine in BOY (finally back in stock), Morning Rose polish, Bronze Corail bronzer and a Vitalumiere Eclat refill (this product is LOVE). The rest were GWPs and samples.

Sucha pretty colour, I knew I had to grab one the minute Jargs swiped it on her nails.

We also dropped by Daiso and I bought a bath bomb (but no bathtub, who wants to take me on a holiday/to a hotel room?) and a makeup brush/sponge cleaner. Initially decided against it as I usually use the MAC brush cleaner or a face cleanser, but Jargs said "antibacterial..." and I said OK! I think I am a bit of a germophobe.

Last purchase of the day, a pair of shoes at 50% off!

There were so many men spotted sitting on the couches/benches at the mall today, no doubt there to carry shopping bags. I even saw a few sleeping!

It's a public holiday tomorrow but I will be working because I need the replacement leave for my Melbourne trip! Thank goodness my boss doesn't mind. I might probably be the only one in the office tmr besides the Japanese managers. Okay, no more shopping until Melbourne!

High tea at Shangri-La

About a month ago we celebrated YL's birthday at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. We wanted something different from the usual fine dine, surprise party, group dinner, so we decided to have a High Tea celebration instead!

We kept getting carried away chatting about everything under the sun, and we had to keep reminding each other to order first, THEN talk. There were 5 of us and we decided on a Malaysian set and 2 English sets. Each set came with either a pot of tea or a coffee.

The scones and little sandwiches were good but the macarons were a bit meh :/ I am picky when it comes to macarons and so far the best I have tasted in KL are from KL Hilton.

In the end we had too much food leftover, we should really learn how to control ourselves. No more over ordering! High tea at Lobby Lounge is actually pretty good, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's up for some tea.

After that we headed over to Pavilion for a little shopping, but not before we checked out Sno. They blend frozen yoghurt with various toppings- you can make your own combo or just pick from their list! All orders are put through via an iPad, they have up to 3 (or was it 4?) iPads built into their counters.

Also, I am trying to grow my brows out so I can reshape them like this blogger, Nic. And yes, I am aware that one side has an arch and one doesn't. But I swear it isn't that obvious in person.

It's Friday already and I can't believe it! 5 more Saturdays and I will be back in Melbourne for my yearly pilgrimage! So much to do and see.. and EAT :D ♥

♥ Before the day is over, I would like to once again wish you Happy Birthday! Over the years you have become one of my bestest friends, and also the bestest friend anyone could ever ask for.

Almost 10 years ago, we visited a beautiful place together and our friendship bloomed from then on.. from a close friend, you became a good friend and we took our friendship to a higher level and became housemates (: Most people walk away from their housemates with a sour taste, but you were such a joy to have around and you kept me up so many nights just laughing and enjoying your company, of course having little Melbie around made it even sweeter.

You are someone whom I admire and look up to, someone who is so compassionate and loving, and is so much fun to have around. Every time we get together you make me laugh till I cry, or even better, until I want to chuck up my meal because I can't breathe. Haha good times. I wouldn't change our friendship for anything, for it is perfect the way it is. Thank you for being yourself and making me a part of your life ♥

Curls and pretty nails..

Curling my hair last night took about an hour -_-" I don't know if I've gotten slower or what, I was practically falling asleep by the time I was done.

Yes, that's a pimple scar on my forehead :C

I was having difficulty photographing the length of my hair, but it is about 3-4 inches past my boobs. Long, but I've actually had it longer before. This is me on the last day of "no eye makeup" after work.

My definition of a *perfect* curl..

Volume please!

I love volume in my hair. This picture actually doesn't show how much volume there is because I didn't pull it all to the front.

Here is how it looks on the right side, I actually have A LOT of hair.

I then proceeded to stick on some pre-glued false nails- but to my dismay they fell off straight after I washed my hands. I was thinking of sticking them back on with the nail glue but I decided to test out my Miss Tangerine nail set from Etude House instead.

So sparkly and so easy to do too! I want to try this out with other colours ♥

I slept in my curls and awoke to softer and less volume (perfect for work). Here is my hair in Liese Ash Brown. I did this just 2 weeks back, I haven't decided if I actually like this shade- it's darker than before and it does have a tinge of ash but.. I don't know. I'll wait a month before changing colours I guess.

Alright, that's all I have today. Off to eat at Bubba Gump's with JagiBOY in a bit!

I have had it with myself!

Tonight, after my dental appointment I am going to:

♥ do my nails..

♥ curl my hair..

♥ camwhore..

It's been so long that I have made any effort to do my hair/doll up. I find that once I started working, I have used my curling iron less than 5 times. Even on the weekends I barely dress up when on dates with my boyfriend!!

I can not allow myself to be this way anymore! I have fallen into a pattern and am getting lazy. Most days I either put my hair in a high bun, or straight. I wear light make up to work and sometimes I don't even use eyeliner! How could I let myself do that??

Dressing up, putting makeup and doing my hair is NOT about being vain or wanting to be pretty. It is about being presentable and enhancing what you already have. Of course, there are girls who don't have to do anything and they still look gorgeous as soon as the roll out of bed, but I wasn't born that way.

Am starting to feel grossed out by myself, so I am promising myself now to make a change from today onwards- I am going to start dolling up and putting thought into my outfits and how I plan to do my hair/accessorize.

When I was still in school, I had so much time on my hands to experiment with looks. Now that I have started working, I find myself not finding enough time to "beautify" myself. But not anymore. From today onwards, I will put more effort into it!

Read about Guardian's Makeover Event (now - 17th April 2011) here on Monday evening and I decided that I just HAD TO drop by One Utama after work. JagiBOY offered to pick me up as soon as I reached home and off we went to burn some cash.

So many masks to choose from!!

I called Jagi up, knowing she'd be interested to check out the Beauty Diary Mask booth. We usually take turns playing the role of "Instigator" (i.e: person who instigates purchases by either (a) owning similar item or (b) giving positive personal opinion regarding the item in hand. Sometimes, both). No guesses who played that role at that night.

When I was in Taiwan, I picked up quite a few boxes of these Beauty Diary Masks (Hello Kitty Limited Edition!!) but most were made souvenirs and I only managed to save a box for myself. Comparing the prices, these masks are being sold for only NTD199 per box in Taiwan, which is about MYR19!! So to see such a mark-up here was slightly appalling. I used to snub these masks in Guardian due to their price but seeing as they are really good, (they moisturize my skin well without causing irritation/breakouts) plus I will not be visiting Taiwan anytime in the next few months, what the heck I decided to take advantage of this promo.

One of the main reasons why I was so adamant to visiting this event was because I saw 2 words: Earl Grey and Macaron. Two of my favourite things in the world (next to Chanel hehe)! Plus I didn't want to miss out on whatever exclusive sets/freebies available. Here is what I walked away with..

The SA demonstrated all products on the back of my hand, I like the texture of the Aloe cleanser and the Vanilla Souffle face scrub didn't smell as sweetly-sick as I expected it to. The Peach Soda eye makeup remover is pretty good too, she demonstrated with a Dior mascara and it glided off, the texture is less oily compared to a few brands I have tried. Will update it's performance on my eyes soon. You can purchase these items individually but as a set its cheaper, I got 2 sets- not to hoard, but one is for my sister.

(It's okay Jargs, you got free movie tickets!! hehe)

Thanks to Jargs, I caved in and bought FOUR sets of stick on nails. Which are so pretty, I can't wait to wear them out. According to her, she bought a pair recently and they were more expensive than the ones sold at the Guardian event. JagiBOY laughed out loud when we gushed over how cheap and pretty the nails were. I ignored him and just rolled my eyes. Men!

We tried making our way back to the carpark but like a magnet we were drawn to Etude House. Haihhhhhhhh. But we were good today and only stood at the Miss Tangerine section, testing out the lipsticks and laughing at how each colour looked on us. I ended up with only a Nail Set, and a Lip gloss *pats self*.

And that, is how I did my tiny part to support the economy.

Oh before I forget, apparently there are "fake" My Beauty Diary masks being sold online and at smaller shops, at a lower price too. One way to ensure that you are buying the real deal is by checking if they have this hologram..

My Monday wasn't so blue thanks to JagiBOY who waited ever so patiently while I shopped. You are the bestest! ♥ ♥

I managed to tick off another Restaurant on my "To Eat" list and I think I may have found my favourite Italian restaurant!

Finding a good Italian restaurant in Melbourne is easy, just stroll along Lygon and you are presented with a whole stretch of Italian restaurants, my personal favourite is Villa Romana. In KL, it's a little tricky finding good Italian restaurants because the "Italian cuisine" here doesn't taste like the fare I've gotten used to. So to me, it's not very authentic. In fact, I think the taste of the dishes have been tweaked to cater to the local taste buds.

That was until I dined at La Risata in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. Man, where have I been all this time?! I loved ♥ everything here, the decor, the food, the patrons (yes, this is important to me because I don't enjoy dining at places where I can't hear myself think or where it is so quiet, I have to whisper to my dinner date), everything! I don't think you can go wrong with any of their dishes but maybe except the Rib Eye- I guess steaks aren't their forte.

Sicilian Bombe

See, this is what I usually order- a platter to start, 2 mains and a dessert. Not like what happened here. Everything was YUM, except for the rib eye which was pretty blah. We asked for medium rare but there was no sign of blood anywhere. A little dry too.

Other than that, the bread basket which came with the minced olive spread was delish, we emptied the basket. Everything on the platter was so so so good, juicy mushrooms, lightly battered calamari with a hint of black pepper, sliced raw beef, and the mouth watering Chicken Pate served with toasted bread and garlic slices. I was so happy Jagi doesn't like Pate much, she claims it looks and tastes like Melbie's (her dog) food. Yay! More for me. (Btw, I am now craving for the Chicken Pate :C )

The Pasta Risata was also good, fresh seafood and the pasta cooked to a perfect al dente ♥ . We finished our dinner with a Sicilian bombe which was meant for 2, but in our opinion could easily feed 4. The taste of brandy is a little strong on the meringue but not enough to get you high, the lemon cream inside was absolutely deeee-licious! This place gets two thumbs up from me! LOVELOVELOVE!! ♥

Great place to catch up with friends and family, awesome food, and lovely ambiance. Can't wait to re-visit!

Ole Ole Bali

About 2 weeks back I was craving for meatmeatmeat for dinner. I wanted a place which served minimal carbs, so JagiBOY suggested Ole Ole Bali at Solaris, Mont Kiara. He said he wanted to scratch a restaurant off my "To Eat" list plus they served huge portions (I love meat).

It wasn't JagiBOY's first time there but it was mine, and I have read good reviews about this place so I was eager to tuck in.

We opted to sit on the floor where there were plush cushions, a nice change from the usual.

What to eat? We (or rather, I) usually get a starter to share, a main and dessert. But JagiBOY warned me that the portions served are massive. This was one of the rare times I actually said okay and only ordered a Platter and a Main. To share between us. How unlike me!

Our food came relatively fast and first up was the Bali Trio (MYR42). Awesome stuff! Fried squid, chicken wings and some fish paste on sticks. The 3 sauces which came with the platter complimented the different meats very well.

A chicken and lamb combo (MYR35)- grilled meats served with corn, mash and coleslaw. Nothing spectacular but it was huge, tasty and we had quite a few pieces of chops to share.

My iced mint tea with passionfruit syrup (MYR 13) was TOO SWEET. I'd probably just order warm water the next time.

We both couldn't finish the last few bites of the grilled chicken and vegetables, and we are actually pretty big eaters. Left the place so full, I couldn't even think of dessert. Okay I did, but I gagged a little.

I like this place and I'll definitely be back again!

Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe in Taiwan ♥

The Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe in Taipei, Taiwan is so awesome that it needs a separate post from my whole Taiwan trip (which I still have not gotten around to post :/). I did research prior to leaving and I am so glad we made time to have lunch here.

If you don't speak a word of Mandarin, you can request for your hotel's receptionist to write it down for you and you could pass that to the cab driver. If you need landmarks, it is very close to the SOGO Department Store. Cabs in Taiwan are generally safe and they don't go around ripping tourists off. If they stop for you, they'll most definitely take you wherever you want to go. And they don't try to take a longer route either!

Digressing a little, on our way back to the hotel, our cabbie misread the hotel address and thus went through a bit of traffic before he finally dropped us off. We were expecting to pay the extra (just a couple of dollars) but he was so honest that he gave us a discount off the meter price! We were tourists and we didn't even try to haggle with him. But of course no good deed goes unnoticed, Papa gave him extra and told him to keep the change. The look on his face was priceless. The world needs more people like the cabbie driver. Okay, back to the post..

From what I gathered online, most people suggested to make reservations but me being a risk taker (read: lazy) and thinking that it was a weekday (Friday), I decided against calling up as we were going for an early lunch. We arrived a little before 12pm and the tables downstairs were already starting to fill up.

The waitress finally led us upstairs after our agonizing 5 minute wait. I was getting a little worried that we would be turned away. We were given a nice booth! There was only one other diner upstairs but as soon as we finished placing our orders, the people started streaming in.

Everything on the menu is written in Chinese, so we mostly relied on the pictures and pointed at what we wanted. In my limited vocabulary, I managed to ask her if they had sets for the day and to my surprise she said everything on the menu comes in a set! Surprise surprise! Most reviews I found online were of their cakes and tea so I had no idea what to expect for lunch. Their sets came with Soup of the day, a Salad, an Entree, our selected Main, a Dessert and a Drink! 6 items for the price listed under the picture? Heck, I was prepared to pay NTD400 (MYR40, USD 13) for the pasta ALONE!

Here's what we had:

First up, Salads- there were 4 different dressings and it was too hard trying to understand the waitress so we took 1 of each. The little cubes you see in the salad are actually jelly. So cute!

Soup of the day served with some bread, I couldn't tell what went in.. but there were bits of carrot, a touch of cream, maybe some pumpkin?

Two serves of escargot for Meimei & I

Yummy, garlic-ey morsels

This was so good, I finished it all. I usually can't finish a cream pasta by myself but this was light, tasty, lots of bacon. YUM!

Papa was surprised with the size of his Main but demolished everything. Even he thinks it's value for money, considering how many dishes we were getting.

Salmon Pasta

Meimei's pasta which was YUM too. Most cream sauces taste this same but hers and mine tasted different. Chockful of Salmon bits too.

This was the BEST dish of the lot! It tasted very similar to Cod fish but I am not sure if it is, but for the price we paid, it is a huge slab of fish.

While my parents opted to have coffee (choice of coffee, iced tea and I can't remember what else) after their meal, my sister and I topped up and selected our drinks from the regular menu..

Surprisingly affordable!

All in all, I was very happy with my visit to the Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe ♥ . It was definitely value for money, even my parents thinks so! The Cafe serves DECENT courses if I may add- the food wasn't just "so-so" it was actually GOOD. When I visit Taipei again I would definitely make time to dine here again.

My tips to visiting the Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe in Taipei, Taiwan:

1. If you do not wish to make a reservation, do arrive early (before 12pm).

2. Getting there is no hassle, most cab drivers know their way around as it is located in the city.

3. Remember to take away some cakes! We forgot T__T

Aesop's Fables

A rather misleading title for there are no fables about Aesop(the Australian brand). Everything positive I have heard about their customer service and products are true!

Okay I exaggerated, I have only tried 2 products long enough to judge, but still! I've only tried two and I like them both. That must mean something right?

Anyway, I bought Aesop's Bitter Orange Astringent Toner today by recommendation of their SA. Ive been longing to try this brand for a while because of the clean, no fuss packaging. And of course their quality products. But we all know what a sucker I am for packaging and pink, so we'll see how long I last. Haha.

It's funny that I never bothered to check out this brand while I was living in Melbourne. I bet it wouldve been cheaper there too! I am going to Google their prices in a while.

Here's what I bought:

Just one 200ml bottle of toner. I actually wanted to get the 100ml bottle incase my skin doesn't approve but it was only a difference of MYR60 (USD20) for the 200ml, so the Scrooge in me decided to pick up the bigger bottle. To my surprise, I was told that if I am unhappy for any reason, I could bring it back within 2 weeks for an exchange! I love Aesop already (:

The SA seemed very well informed about the products available and her analysis of my skin was spot on. Infact, she looked somewhat disgusted by my skincare regime and that i have been using so many different brands on my face in one night :C maybe I should seriously consider using everything from ONE brand. Right now, I am using up to 7 brands for my nightly regime. And here is what she suggested I try..

She gave me a total of 11 sachets of samples! And I didn't even ask! Or hint! HAHA. Well I was *going* to ask to try a cleanser but she went all out and gave me 3 sachets of cleanser, 2 serum, 2 exfoliator, 2 mask and 1 spot mask.

It is so rare for a company to be so generous with samples but my friends who use this brand in Melb tells me that their SAs always encourage you to try their products. Even if you don't buy anything! Wow! Brands like La Mer, SK-II and the likes should learn a thing or two.

I am def going to try out the samples soon and I sure hope my skin likes the toner because I dont want to return it!!

A Crabtree & Evelyn hamper! Thank you, my mother loves it and I am sure my father would too when he sees it tomorrow morning. Knowing my parents, they would probably gobble everything up while I am at work. Food is NOT SAFE in the fridge unless you specifically say not to finish it! I call dibs on the toffee hehe :D

I told them that it's going to be one of their last hampers since they have both retired, so they better savor it. This gift basket was sent to my family as a token of appreciation (business wise) but it means much more than just a successful project to us. We honestly believe in the capabilities of this person and she showed us how right we were.

And of course, a little something extra just for ME. Thank you! You really didn't have to but I'm glad you got me something. I will try to forget that it was "free" but instead you got it cause you love me.

It smells lovely. But you know what would smell lovelier? The buttery leather scent of a Jumbo Chanel *inhales deeply* I'll be waiting! :D

Ho-hum. All that's on my mind these days is being on a holiday, shopping, spending time with loved ones, TT* sessions with my girlfriends.

*TT stands for tai-tai (in Cantonese) which basically means "ladies of leisure" who indulge in everything fine and all they do is shop, have massages, manicures + pedicures, fine dine, and are usually domestic goddesses. Well, according to me anyway.

Last Sunday we celebrated one of our dear friend's birthday. She is one of the sweetest and nicest people I know, albeit a little indecisive at times. Here's to our 14 years of friendship and counting!

Cleanse Cleanse Cleanse..

I am a self-confessed cleanser junkie and I haven't washed my face with just plain water since I was what, 10? 11? I started out using really gentle stuff like Simple, Clean & Clear and slowly graduated to higher end products over the years. I can safely say that I have never re-purchased any of the cleansers I have used. Not because they sucked (some did) but because I feel there are better products out there waiting to be discovered.

The average duration a cleanser lasts me is about 3-6 months, depending on how much I use and if by the end of 3 months I don't see a visible difference, off I go looking for a new cleanser. 3 months should be sufficient time for you to know if a product works for your skin. I won't just "settle" because there are so many products/brands out there and I am determined to find my HG (Holy Grail) cleanser!

I don't usually return to a brand unless there is a selling point which interests me and one of them is Clarins. I have used Clarins' products on and off over the years and it is really gentle on the skin. A short history- the Clarins brand has been around since 1954 and their first Institute was opened on 35 rue Tronchet in Paris. Fast forward to the present, Clarins does not use any ingredient of animal origin in their formulas- which means all their products are plant based. My mother is an avid fan of Clarins (25 years+ and still going!) and she has bought me numerous cleaners from this brand to try out since I hit puberty-

Yes, I have *almost* tried all the cleansers Clarins has to offer. The only two which I really like are the Pure Melt Cleansing Gel (with Marula oil) and the Gentle Foaming Cleanser (with Tamarind and purifying micro-beads). The former worked beautifully for me during Melbourne's winters- it took off all my make-up at the end of the day and did not cause me to break out/dry up at all. However when I came back to hot and humid Kuala Lumpur, my skin seemed to go crazy and rejected this product, causing me to break out almost everywhere! Not to mention it felt like it didn't remove my makeup very well. I don't think the product was the culprit, rather it was my hormones and the weather? The latter was purchased many months later as a follow-up to my make-up remover at night. I liked the scent and the little beads which dissolved as I rubbed into my skin. It was good, but wasn't fantastic- so I moved along and didn't repurchase it.

My mother on the other hand, has been using the Cleansing Milk and Gentle Cleansing Foam since before I was born and she still uses these products today. But of course, once in a while I pass along a few products which are too rich/moisturizing for my skin and she doesn't mind finishing them up for me. I have heard only raves about the Cleansing Milk and I was a bit disappointed that my skin doesn't like milk cleansers much (except for Chanel's Lait Confort, that would be another post), however that was years ago, I might give Clarins' Cleansing Milk another go now that my skin has "grown up" a little.

At the moment, I am using Clarins White Plus Pearl to Cream Cleanser in the morning (and this at night) and here is my review:

Morning and/or evening, work up a generous foam and apply with circular motions on a damp face and neck. Rinse well with cool water in the morning and warm water at night. Avoid the eye contour area.

Jua from Brazil- cleanses, eliminates impurities while respecting the hydrolipic film. Alchemilla- brightens. Flavonoids from parsley- stimulates blood and lymphatic drainage, enhances complexion radiance. Tannins from alchemilla- purifies and tighten pores. (Phew! Sounds like it does a lot.)

My review:
I got this as a gift from my mother so I am not too sure how much it costs. It has a nice scent to it, but not overpowering. It foams up to a rich, fluffy foam and it feels more moisturizing than the Ettusais cleanser I am using at night. After cleansing, skin is smooth and soft, there is no "tight, squeaky feeling" which is fine for me as I use it in the morning, not at night to remove traces of makeup. To be honest, it does do what it claims- a generous, rich mousse which cleanses and tightens pores. However, I am not too sure about the brightening claim as I have not been using it for very long (2 weeks). Overall, a nice cleanser to try if you are interested in Clarins products.

Conclusion:

Plus points for being a plant based and gentle product, however I feel that it *might* be a bit moisturizing for me- my skin has not broken out or anything but I am constantly worried it might. And I don't like living in fear of that! Other than that, it is a nice cleanser- just not my HG morning cleanser. I might repurchase this in the future when my skin has mellowed to Dry/Normal instead of Combination.

A side note: there is one more cleanser I want to try from Clarins..

WHITE PLUS
Detoxifying Cleansing Mousse

One more thing- although Clarins skincare products work well, their eye makeup removers are crap so please do not attempt any of them unless you wear little to virtually no eye makeup. They have two- the Gentle Eye Makeup Remover and the Instant Eye Makeup Remover. Not only did they BOTH not work for me, one stung my eyes and the other gave me milia (oil seeds) near my eyes -_-". Definitely not recommended for people with sensitive eyes.

Hair Condition: Coloured my hair with Raymond from Shawn Cutler, he is the one and only stylist who assured me that IT IS POSSIBLE to have light hair without using bleach! Skeptical initially but he did say the colour wouldn't be 100% accurate. In my case, I was pretty happy with the results- very close match but under certain lighting you could tell there is a difference. As Jagi said, its probably cause we bleached our hair before. A little darker than before.

Damage: Colour + Trim = about MYR400, but I also purchased a shampoo.

Okay here is the part where my Kao Liese Bubble Hair Colour Review comes in! I first saw this back in 2009 when I visited Singapore with Jagi, but wasn't very interested because how vibrant can a non-salon dye job be anyway? Plus my hair is REALLY black!

If not because I saw my colleagues rocking their new colours and asking where they did their hair, I would've never guessed it came from a box!! They all had dark hair to begin with and thick too, and the colour was very vibrant and bright. I was SOLD! They had a tip for me though: to leave it on for at least ONE HOUR instead of the recommended 20 mins before washing off.

By early Jan, I already had about an inch of regrowth showing (my hair grows pretty fast) so I picked up the Liese Bubble Hair Colour in Chiffon Beige.

It was the lightest colour in the range, I grabbed it thinking the colour would show the best since it was light, as opposed to a darker colour which might not show on my hair.

The instructions are VERY SIMPLE, gloves and all are included in the kit so you just need some shampoo and mask to condition after. There is also a conditioner that comes with the kit but it didn't do much for my hair. Left the dye on for about 1 hour 10 minutes (yes I timed) and...

TA-DAHHH!!

Liese Bubble Hair Colour- Chiffon Beige ♥

Hair Condition: I never expected the colour to come out so well! I used the mixture from one and a half bottles, kept reapplying the solution when the bubbles disappeared and also kept massaging when it looked dry. Very even colour, and I was very happy! And there was no sign of regrowth anywhere!

Damage: Colour = MYR 34 x 2 boxes. So cheap!!

Just before the Lunar New year, I dyed my hair again to look pretty for my Taiwan trip! This time I picked Marshmallow Brown- a darker shade.

After having light hair for 6 months, I am thinking of changing back to a brunette gradually. My results as anticipated, we as good as the first time if not better..

Hair Condition: Colour came out very well, roots were coloured 100% I feel that the colours are very true to the box. It is more brown compared to the Chiffon (please excuse my stringy hair, it was very windy).

Damage: Colour = MYR 34 x 2 boxes (even with my length and thickness, I could only use 1.5 bottles maximum, and I was reapplying liberally)

In conclusion of my Liese Bubble Hair Colour Review, I was initially apprehensive of DIY dyes before I tried Liese and I felt that only Salons could give you a light, bright colour. But I was SO wrong. I don't think I would be going to a Salon to re-dye my hair anytime soon. Which is a pity because Raymond was actually pretty good. Oh wells! More $$$ saved for my Material wants then :D

Some of my tips:

1. Do not wash hair for at least 1 day before you colour it. Also, do not use any product (gel, wax, hair serum..) as that would affect the performance of the hair dye.

2. Get someone to help you check if all strands of hair are covered.

3. Leave dye on for at least 1 hour and sit in a room which isn't air-conditioned. Heat helps the solution colour your hair faster and better.

4. Rinse with a shampoo formulated for damaged hair and condition with a very moisturizing mask.

5. Do not wash hair for at least two days after initial dye.

6. Use your hair mask as a conditioner!

Well, that's what I do at least (:

Tuesday, 22 Feb- I will admit, I am not an easy person to shop for/surprise. I enjoy being surprised VERY MUCH, but it isn't an easy task. I can pick up on 'surprise' signals a mile away eventhough I don't do it on purpose. Little surprises always make me happy. Example of good surprises: cute/expensive lotion which I can't bear to purchase myself because I still have so many to finish up. Bad surprises: cute/expensive stuff which I have no use for. Really grinds my gears.

Wednesday, 23 Feb- I forgot to take a picture today! :S The living area was empty on that day and we had to sit on a carpet to watch TV. Pictured here is our new set. The old set is actually pretty new, only flaw is the leather on my dad's one seater was starting to peel. Such a pity, if I had space in my room I would've taken the 2 or 3 seater in. So off it went to the orphanage!

Thursday, 24 Feb- I like the smell of food cooking in the oven and I can never say no to brownies!! (no nuts please). My little sister made these, although they were a bit underbaked- they still tasted awesome (: Btw did you know that underbaked brownies taste sweeter than fully baked ones??

Friday, 25 Feb- Totally broke my "Skincare/cosmetics ban" today. I don't even know when I will be able to start using these. *Looks at growing pile of products* T__T

Saturday, 26 Feb- Paid a visit to Strip. Supposedly one of the better waxing places around town. Had my initial doubts since I first heard of them but I was right. *Cringe* Never again will I step foot in ANY waxing establishment in Malaysia. Unclean job, pushy therapists, gossipy.. unprofessional!

Sunday, 27 Feb- Why hello there Indian Star Tortoise! I once contemplated buying one of these but once I found out they slept more than I do, I decided against it. Not to mention they can't snuggle up with me like how Luna can.

Monday, 28 Feb- Finally got started on my Sparrow Painting. I got this like 8 months back, but I feel like giving up after the first session of painting. Too hard compared to the previous ones I've done!! Grrr.

Tuesday, 1 Mar- Love at the airport. The ice cream we were having dripped and created this. ♥ My family.

Wednesday, 2 Mar- My heart and room felt so empty that day. This stool was my sister's laptop table for the 3 months she was back. Come home soon, Meimei!

Thursday, 3 Mar- Finally had some time to clean up my room and unpack my Taiwan shopping. Bought this iPad case off my sister at only NTD390 (less than MYR39, USD10). She claims it's too childish for her so I grabbed it :D

Friday, 4 Mar- I mentioned to Papa before that I would like to start a Herb Patch, and he gave me this to take care of in the office. It's a Lucky Bamboo, and when it gets bigger I will take it home to re-pot.

Monday, 14 Feb [Taiwan]- I am a sucker for cute packaging if you can't tell already. Frosted cornflakes with milk~ I can spend hours shopping for groceries and 24-hour convenience stores are Godsend!

Tuesday, 15 Feb [Taiwan]- We visited a farm today, I loved it. I find it nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of cities once in a while. It was so quiet, the air was fresh, and I found out I actually like taking strolls (providing I don't have to break a sweat).

Wednesday, 16 Feb [Taiwan]- I don't mention it much, but I've rolled, yes ROLLED, down a flight of stairs before. I was in school, taking the first few steps down when I thought I heard someone call my name- I turned- before I knew it, I tripped and found myself at the corner of the stairs. No major injuries- just badly scratched up and I think I twisted my ankle. It is almost impossible for me to walk down the stairs without holding onto something now, unless I concentrate real hard on my steps.

Thursday, 17 Feb [Taiwan]- We ate at this place called "5 Dime Restaurant", the interior is AMAZING! The attention to detail is just crazy. I honestly felt like I was in another world.

Friday, 18 Feb [Taiwan]- Taken at the Taipei International Flora Exposition 2010/2011. So rare to see rows and rows of beautiful colours and arrangements. I want a beautiful garden in my future home too! And of course someone who can take care of them :D

Saturday, 19 Feb [Taiwan/KL]- I always try to save some money for duty-free shopping, instead of blowing it all on the first few days. In-flight shopping is like a little thrill for me, can't quite explain why. My sister and I really wanted the Swarovski pen (MYR75 only!!) but they didn't stock up on it for our flight. Oh wells! Serves me right for telling Jargs not to waste $$ on it.

Sunday, 20 Feb- Back in humid KL and brunch with JagiBOY. I love big breakfasts!

Monday, 21 Feb- I think I've found my next favourite tea- Earl Grey. Sun Moulin was also selling a Earl Grey Chiffon Cake. So delicious! The scent, the taste.. mmMmm. I wonder if they have any Earl Grey flavoured candies out there?

A fine lunch with fine company. Partners in crime: my twin (oh yes, we were asked at the entrance yet again) and Jargs.

BabySen has this theory that most people are racist and can't tell the difference when we have our hair down. But I dont think so! Just the other night I had my hair up, hers down, and an Asian woman (Sen's friend's mom) kept looking left to right at us and asked if we were twins.

(Fact of the day: Did you know that saying all Asian/White/Indian/Chinese/*insert race* people look alike makes you *gasp* RACIST! HAHA) Okay, I digress- back to the review.

We picked Il Lido because we wanted to have a nice meal with BabySen before she flew back to Melbourne to continue her studies. (She is now already back there. I miss you Kittttyyyy!!!)

We opted for their Daily Lunch Set which included an Amuse Bouche, Choice of Daily Soup/Appetizer, Choice of Daily Main Course and Daily Dessert Creation, which at MYR49.90 is really a steal. Thinking it wouldn't be enough, we decided to order an extra main to share- even before consulting each other. Great (greedy?) minds think alike!

I noticed they also cleared my utensils after every dish, impressive! Looking around, Jargs the interior designer (who heads her own company) pointed out that they 'spotlight-ed' our food. I think it enhances the presentation of the dish while allowing you to take nice pictures. I didn't even need a flash for the food pictures taken.

Complimentary bread

Once we placed our orders, we were served some bread. Tasty and it had a nice texture but a little oily.

Amuse Bouche- Deep fried eggplant with spicy tomato sauce

This little cube was crispy on the outside, but gooey and juicy on the inside. Noms.

Appetizer- Crab salad with avocado and bisque jelly

YUMS!

I actually really like this! Very refreshing and sooo good, everything went well together. Have not tasted anything like this before. I love it when my taste buds are treated to new textures and flavours.

My main: Fettucine with wild boar ragout and blackberries

I couldn't detect the blackberries visually, but perhaps they were cooked into the sauce as there was a subtle sweetness. Again, it was tasty and halfway through this I was actually starting to feel full. Each mouthful of fettucine was well tossed with the sauce.

Grilled duck

My twin and Jargs both had the Grilled Duck which isn't on the ala carte menu. Juicy, but to be honest I dont really care for duck unless it is of the Peking variety or ginger braised.

To share: Sardinian roasted suckling pig with plum sauce

Our main to share looks like a normal piece of roasted pork, but the skin was SO crispy with just the right amount of fat and the meat underneath was tender. Thank goodness we each had a piece or we'd be fighting over it.

Dessert of the day was a Chocolate tart, very nice- gobbled up within minutes. Not too sweet or creamy, almost perfect really. The base, the chocolate. Mmmmm.

After that we were served tea and coffee, and Il Lido's Petit Fours (PFs). Almond Amarettis, Dark Chocolate drops coated with coconut flakes, and the best of the lot- White Chocolate squares. In my opinion, their PFs weren't on par with their other dishes.

From their website, "Il Lido promises an all-inclusive, stylish environment that is complemented by its impeccable cuisine and a touch of warm, personable service."

I concur.

Marufuku's Niku Udon is ♥

Been meaning to write about this for a while now, and I finally got round to uploading pictures from my phone. I have been back to Marufuku @ Jaya One a few times after my first visit and I am very happy to say that the udon is still as good!

The reason why I'm writing about this restaurant again is because of their Niku Udon! I have never tasted anything like it and I am pretty sure ANYONE who likes beef and udon will ♥ it too.

This dish comes in 2 options- soup or dry. I have tried both and I have to say that both are good BUT the dry version blows my mind. I am serious. "Dry" isn't really dry here because the udon comes with some beef, an egg, some broth/sauce (I can't quite tell but it is soooo good), spring onions, and you toss that all together.

See, after all that tossing it isn't really "dry". Very very yummy. I slurped up everything. No joke. The beef slices are so tender and flavourful, if I could I would eat 2 bowls of this!

Viber rocks!

Just got off the phone with my sister, and Ive got to say Viber is one of the best iPhone apps ever created. She sounds like she's just next door and even though she's thousands of miles away, I feel like I'm just calling to annoy her (as I usually do). The quality of sound is awesome and there is no lag (provided your Internet connection is steady)!

What is Viber? It's an application which allows you to call other Viber users for FREE via a wireless connection. Sorta like Skype but better! You don't need to sign in with a password (I always forget mine) and best of all, this app is FREE. I am saving so much on International calls now that my sister is back in Melbourne! Thank goodness for technology (:

On another note, I have been searching high and low for my house keys this whole week and I just can't seem to remember where I placed them. Last night my mother even had to leave her keys outside the house (hidden of course) for me as I was returning home late. I found my keys 10 mins ago and guess where they were?

Sitting happily in the SAME bag I was using for the WHOLE WEEK!! Grrr. I really should start organizing the things in my bag better. People are starting to get annoyed when I frantically dig in my bag then proceed to shout "I can't find my phone!! Call me!!" then locating it 0.3466 seconds later -_-"

Random: JagiBOY pulled over last night because he saw this on the side of the road! This little fella was taking stroll but when we stopped to look at him he hid in his shell! His underside was all dry and severely cracked so I poured some water over it. This turtle/tortoise was found just outside my housing area.

I wonder where he came from?

Chanel White Essentiel Lightening Make-up Remover Review!

Things to note?

Has a very strong but nice perfume-y scent.

My review:

This tube lasted me a long while, I only needed less than 2cm of product for every wash and I used it nightly to remove my makeup. I usually have on eyeliner, concealer, BB cream, sometimes foundation, loose powder, and blush- all my makeup is heavy duty as I am out the door from 8.30am till 7.30pm at the least. Now, I am pretty sure this product is not intended for the eyes, but I have been using it for the past 2 months to rub off my Bobbi Brown gel liner as well. This product HAS to be used on a dry face with dry hands or the oil will not dissolve your makeup well. Despite the fragrance in this product, it did not break out my skin at all and it did leave it feeling soft and clean- no tightness or greasy film leftover. It removes my makeup really well without causing irritation to both my eyes and skin. I still follow up with a foaming cleanser as I believe in double cleansing at night. My only gripe is that the tube is not travel-friendly, too large for my liking. Other than that, I like it!

Conclusion: It is a little on the expensive side, but the size of the tube makes up for it and it lasted me for a long while. I might purchase this again in the future but for now, there are other cleaners which I would like to try. A good product, just not an "excellent" one.

..towards ZARA! I never used to like this brand because I felt most pieces were overpriced, mass produced, cheaply made and NOT fashion forward at all! I mean, once in a while there would be a few *okay* pieces in there but most times were huge disappointments, not to mention the horrible SAs who think it would hurt to smile a little now and then.

I am pretty sure I have less than 5 pieces of clothing from ZARA. But my opinion towards this brand has changed! The current collection they have in-stores is gorgeous! I saw so many pieces which I wanted (not needed). Am currently on a shopping ban at the moment so all I can do is lust over it.

Ettusais Pore Care Wash Review!

What is it?

Pore Care Wash, 125ml

A cleanser with ultra-fine foam that prevents open pores and blemishes.

Claims?(from website)

It cleanses deeply thanks to fluffy foam that catches “unsaturated fatty acid”, the cause of enlarged pores, while gently lifting away impurities. It fights acne bacteria and moisturises with AC Control Oil. It also conditions rough skin with jojoba oil and does not rob skin of needed moisture.

How to use it? (from website)

Apply a small amount of Pore Care Wash in your palm (around 3cm will do) and lather up adding water a little at a time to create fluffy foam before cleansing your face in a circular motion.

Things to note?

Non-comedogenic, fragrance free and colourant free. The liquid is white-ish, a little runny and smells faintly of eucalyptus (I like!). Hygienic flip-top bottle.

My review:

I bought this because I was looking for a night-time cleanser to follow my make-up remover. At MYR 30 a pop (there was a promotion), it was really a steal. I have used this for about 2 weeks plus (before I went on my trip and resumed after I returned), and I have no adverse reactions to this cleanser. The foam is dense and fluffy, very nice! When I use a milk cleanser, I expect it to be somewhat runny and milky, when I use an oil cleanser I expect it to be thick and a little gloopy.. so naturally, my foaming cleansers would have to give me lots of fluffy clouds of foam! The first time I used it I was actually worried that it would strip my skin and leave it feeling tight. Most cleansers which foam well end up disappointing me, but this cleanser surprisingly didn't. Even after I dried my face and left it bare for more than 10 mins, I did not feel a tinge of dryness. Very impressed. Must be the jojoba oil. As for my pores- I have noticed less gunk coming out when I use the extractor, I'm lucky to not have obvious blackheads but I do have visible pores. Overall, a pretty good cleanser which didn't break me out, really cleaned my face and left it soft and supple.

Conclusion: Cheap, doesn't irritate my skin and much better than a lot of other drugstore/high end brands. I would purchase this again, but not at the moment as there are so many others cleansers to try!

Have been back since Sat noon but am only updating now because I have been busy catching up with girl friends, lover boy and trying to unpack!

Gosh how I miss Taipei already. I ate so much food, drank so many green teas and walked into so many 7/11s that I can almost memorize the prices of their drinks and snacks. Visited every.single.Watsons I came across looking for certain beauty products. Cosmetics is def cheaper in Taiwan. Expect a day by day update soon!

The whole of Sunday I spent it catching up with JagiBOY. He was sweet enough to wait in the car while I popped into SK-II for my follow up/skin consultation.

The SA scanned my face with a gadget and gave me a bunch of things to read, a sample and the price list. I really really want to swap over to this brand because it really works very well for me. I especially like the foaming cleanser. BUT I still hve so many products lying around plus the price tag isn't all that friendly. Sigh. I guess I will just hve to wait.

I then proceeded to pop into SASA whilst JagiBOY waited..

And walked out with the Kiss Me Heroine Eyebrow Pencil and the Dr. Young Pore Balm. I used the balm this morning and I must say, it's really good! On sale at SASA now for only MYR33, originally MYR72. Review later (: There are two of each item because one set is for my little sister Sen.

Alright, hopefully I will be able to finish unpacking soon and upload the 194879 pics taken on this trip.

Friday, 28 Jan- My friends took me out for dinner (my birthday was earlier that week) at Garibaldi. Thank you all (:

Saturday, 29 Jan- Celebrated Roy's belated birthday at Dish. The steak was soooo good!

Sunday, 30 Jan- I re-dyed my hair with Liese again. This time I went for Marshmallow Brown. Love it!

Monday, 31 Jan- Tried my luck at the Sanrio store in Lot 10. They have this lucky dip where you pay MYR30 for a draw and there are many cute and functional goodies to be won. I was very happy with my draws!

Tuesday, 1 Feb- It was a state holiday so the whole of KL had a day off. JagiBOY took me to this junkyard to sell off some old papers. It really was an interesting sight for me..

Wednesday, 2 Feb- The night before the Lunar New Year. Also the first time in at least 2 years that I've laid my fingers on the piano.

Thursday, 3 Feb- Happy New Year! I didn't take any pics today, the only one I received was from JagiBOY so it'll have to do.

Friday, 4 Feb- I nearly caved in and got this bag in purple. It's not expensive, but I don't need any more bags so the money goes into my BAG FUND hehe.

Saturday, 5 Feb- After much deliberation, I put in my first order at Sereni & Shentel. Gorgeous headbands, all handmade!

Sunday, 6 Feb- Had tea at Pastis cafe in Gardens, I like the food + presentation. Will def be back. Pictured: Virgin mojito in test tubes! Don't be fooled by the amount of liquid in the tubes- they may look little but there is quite a bit.

Monday, 7 Feb- A picture of my food/tea drawer. I am trying to drink at least one cup of tea a day when I am in the office. Preferably green.

Tuesday, 8 Feb- JagiBOY wanted to keep the dinner venue a secret but gave the plot away when he asked- Would you like Swedish food for dinner? HAHA. Where else?! IKEAs cranberry sauce is love.

Wednesday, 9 Feb- That block of cheese weighs 5 kg!! Huge as!! Can't wait for the cheese fair to start..

Sleepy Saturday..

.. took a nap but I think I'm feeling even more sluggish now.

Dropped by the temple early this morn, met up with a cousin who gave me a belated gift, lunch at home.. cleaning up my room cause we have a special guest dropping by later, and I'm also packing the remaining things for my upcoming trip.

A lovely lip colour and this lotion I got off my sis while she was cleaning up. Yayy! I'm a sucker for freebies (:

I am always too excited and can rarely sleep the night before I fly so I sure hope I manage to catch some zzz tonight. Don't wanna arrive looking all tired and haggard.

Etude House Milk Screw Review!

Milk Screw No.5- Mango Milk: A "Lip Care & Tint Combination Lip Balm", 3.5g

Claims? (from website)

It is a lip damage cure and prevention balm, as well as moisturizer.

How to use it?

Apply on lips after you brush your teeth, after meals, before you sleep and whenever lips feel dry and unloved.

Things to note?

For a Mango Milk Screw, it doesn't smell very mango-ey but a little like berries? But nonetheless yummy. Ingredient list is in Korean, so I'm not sure if there are any questionable ingredients.

My review:

I started using this about a month ago (read here) and half the tube is almost gone- that's cause I've been slathering it on 24/7. Scent wise, it's nice and sweet, tastes OK too- not waxy and gross. Most lipbalms I've tried from drugstores give me scratchy throats- Mentholatum, Nivea (sometimes) and BonneBell (used this ages ago). I think it may be a reaction to an ingredient they have in common?

As a tint, this product works really well! I initially thought it was a lipbalm and applied several layers (without using a mirror) and happily trotted off to work, until I caught a glimpse of my lips in the toilet mirror! HAHA. So THAT'S why my mother was asking why I looked so dolled-up for work. ONE application is good enough to give your lips a nice hint of colour. Apply a second or third layer and you could *almost* use it as a lip gloss but without the high-shine. Moisturizes chapped and dry lips well- the balm sorta melts into your lips. The texture of this Milk Screw is nice too- it glides on your lips smoothly, but does not leave it looking like you smeared chicken grease on them. Pretty!

Conclusion: ♥ it! Cheap, works as a balm+tint, no scratchy throat. Might repurchase after I finish the rest of the balms sitting around.

2nd day of Chinese New Year..

and I'm back to work!

I have gotten so many puzzled looks and questions at work today- "Have you changed your religion?", "You don't celebrate Chinese New Year?", "Why aren't you on leave?" and etc. I find it a little disturbing that people seem to generalize when certain races should/shouldn't have to work.

When I was younger, I never did (or bothered) to question the reason why the Chinese celebrated this holiday- I was more interested in meeting up with my cousins at my Grandma's old papan (wooden) house, playing with fireworks, eating mandarins, meat floss, prawn crackers, and how could I forget the angpow collecting. I also remember walking around the house in my new shoes for 'good luck' on the first day, and also no bottles in the house were to be left unfilled. There is also this one tradition which goes somewhat like- you aren't allowed to sweep/clean for the first few days of CNY? I don't know who came up with this one but.. lazy much?

As I grow older, I've come to stop practicing whatever 'traditions' I am uncomfortable with- no more stomping around the house in new shoes, I empty the trashcan whenever it's full and I will mop the floor if it gets dirty. There are many, many beliefs associated with the CNY celebrations which most modern Chinese have left out- so why can't I do the same and drop the ones which I find holds no significance?

Another tradition which most Chinese practice is that all family members (and I mean all as in Uncles, Aunties, and etc) have to be together for the 8/9/10 course Reunion Dinner on the eve of CNY even if it means risking one's life to rush home. If you don't, you are considered an unfilial family member. Statistics show that road accidents have a sharp increase during the few days before CNY, which doesn't surprise me- considering how people would speed home to be in time for the RD, especially if they live inter-state. I guess I am lucky that I don't have elders who pressure my family into such practices. If we happen to be in Ipoh, we'll celebrate it with my 2nd aunt and her family. If we're in Kuantan, we'll celebrate with my 1st, 3rd, and 5th aunts' families.

(Note: Just yesterday I was in Kuantan for a day trip and when we returned to KL, we had Maccas for dinner because most Chinese restaurants would be closed anyway. Before anyone goes "WTH?! Maccas for dinner?! On the first day of CNY?!", whoever said you couldn't? There was a really old granny there too, with her sons/daughters/in-laws, grandchildren and possibly even great grandchildren. And they were having Maccas for dinner. If a granny that old has no objections, I don't have any either :D)

After all that talk about not following traditions, my family and I still do visit the temple to pay respects to my maternal grandparents but we do it because we want to, not have to. It is not a MUST DO for us on the first day of CNY and my grandparents sure aren't going to be tossing in their graves (urns) if we don't visit the temple.

The way I see it, most people are just using this celebration for a reason to get together, clean the house, visit relatives and indulge in cookies, mandarins and the likes. Do we really need to wait a whole year just to do this? Just a thought.

That said, have a Happy Chinese New Year! Drive safe, and drink responsibly if you are going to.

Project365: Day #20 - 27

Thursday: I like trying new snacks! Though I do try to restrict my junk intake. These two don't get any love- all I tasted was Seaweed and Wasabi.

Friday: Online shopping brings me joy! I love ripping em open and getting giddy with excitement over what's inside.

Saturday: A lot of people have qualms over buying something 'vintage' or 'pre-loved'. I don't. Infact, I haven't been to a good Vintage sale since I left Melb. The Chic Pop Bazaar at Jaya One offered heaps of great items- too bad if you missed it!

Sunday: VV hosted a sleepover- she had 7 girls over, including herself. At this age it is SO RARE to get all of us for dinner together let alone at a sleepover. Prior to this year, we have all been scattered all over the world..

Monday: Had a day off and celebrated my birthday early with family. I like my steaks red and bloody. Gyu tataki.. mMmmm

Tuesday: Happy Birthday to Me! Had so much cake from my sis and friends that I still have leftover in the fridge today (Thurs).

Wednesday: Know what grinds my gears? Drivers/Motorists who don't have working rear lights. Do they have any idea how dangerous that is? Btw, I took this pic when the car was stationary. Note how all other cars have their brake lights on.

Thursday (today): Japanese/Taiwanese/Chinese mags are great way to unwind for the day. I cant read Chinese but I buy them for the pictures and gifts.

Been slacking with my daily posts, I need to update pics for Project365 more regularly!
