안넹! Winter in Korea

Back in February, my family visited Korea during the Lunar New Year holidays.

It was already the end of winter but it was still snowing lightly in Seoul.

Some people say that winter is the most dull/sad of all seasons in terms of fashion but I think it's just a matter of accessorizing and wearing a pop of colour instead of just black/gray/navy.

The temperature was below zero daily, the day we landed it was -19 Celcius, one night it was -25. I LOVE the cold! Here's what I wore to keep myself warm and toasty throughout the trip:

At Incheon Airport, in comfortable plane-wear
Sneakers for sight-seeing days
Collar necklaces instantly transform an otherwise blah outfit
Wooly snood and balaclava
Loving my sister's cape
Snoooowwwwww! The wind was really cold at the ski resort and we had to cover our faces as we walked
Cute papa
Removed our face-covers for a pic. So cold that my nose, lips and cheeks were turning raw
Checking out headgear in the shops
More sightseeing at Mount. Sorak; beautiful views
Family!

Showing us whats under her cape
Lotte World! It's been 10 years since my first visit!
One of the not-so-cold days
The first thing we did was get kitty-ears to wear
My most favouritest (is it even a word?) cape-jacket!

Underneath my cape...

I brought 3 jackets with me for the week (too little? too many?) but they all kept me very warm. I need fashion that functions, but if I had to choose comfort over looking good- I'd definitely pick looking good.

Life is too short to dress down; or eat crappy chocolate.

And they say..

Am a month late but one of my bestest friends got married recently!

The ceremony took place in a Buddhist temple; it was an intimate event with close family and friends present. Vows were read, rings were exchanged, signatures were penned, and many many pictures were taken.

I teared when the groom (also a long time friend) gave a mini speech proclaiming his love for her. It was short and sweet but very touching mainly because I was there watching their relationship grow. From US to Melbourne back to KL, it feels like just yesterday we were partying it up in Melbourne!

The celebrations continued with lunch at Shangri-La, where the hotel set us up in a private area facing the gardens.

She is the first in the group to tie the knot, and I am so happy for her to find someone who will love her unconditionally. I know married women are usually not asked to be bridesmaids but I will most definitely have her as one of mine (when I do get married) because she is someone I hold very dear. We have known each other for almost 15 years now; and whoever said "Time flies when you are having fun" wasn't kidding.

I am so grateful and blessed to have someone like her in my life.

True love isn't solely about wanting to be with each other, but how your partner makes you want to be a better person for yourself, and each other. To have someone who believes that you can achieve so much more than you dare to imagine is someone worth having and loving.

Congratulations to two dear friends!

Date Night

It has been a while!! Sometimes I imagine my life if I still lived in a foreign country (Melbourne mostly) and how it would be like; working and living with JagiBOY. To have more time for myself, for us and to do the things I like.

When I was living abroad, I used to commute daily; train-tram-walk. I really enjoyed it because it gave me more time to put on makeup, get dressed, read, daydream and plan out the day. Public transportation is relatively clean, on time and safe; roads have proper lanes for pedestrians to cross and pavements are safe for walking (in heels).

Back in Kuala Lumpur, none of these options are viable. People drive everywhere- public transportation is only an option if you don't drive/live extremely close to a station. Trains here are generally dirty, littered with pickpockets, oh and people shove you to get in/out of the train (without letting people off first!). Pavements are uneven, there are holes and chips- not safe for heels at all

So I drive- an hour (each way) to get to work and back; I have to endure the crazy heavy traffic to get into the city centre everyday. On weekends, my home is only 15-20 minutes from my workplace, so you can imagine my frustration. During the rainy season, it gets worse; once it took me 2 hours to get home. There is only so much I can do in the car: sing, play games on my phone (Triple Town!!!), sing some more.

I miss commuting to and fro using the train, trams and walking. Convenience is something I expect a city to offer, and I miss it terribly!

Convenience >> time saved >> more time to spend with loved ones i.e more Date Nights!!

What do other people do when stuck in traffic?

I like to SPOON

Yes, I do.

At SPOON, Mid Valley, just next to Delicious. I enjoyed it so much I had two serves!

The shop has been open for almost two weeks but I finallllllly had my fix last night after work.

Testing out the flavours available- Original, Raspberry and Green Tea, while the sisters discuss how they plan to make me their guinea pig for new flavors. Har har :D I would happily oblige.

They have Premium toppings such as chocolate caviar, brownie bits and many more..
My fave mix of the moment? Original froyo with their Signature granola and Oreo bits. YinYen makes the granola almost on the daily and she's a real good cook! I know cause I used to gobble up everything she made when I lived with YC in Melb. Yumm.

The granola is a hit with everyone, I had to stop Meimei from attacking (from my second serve) and after that, I even went and did a "could I please have some more.." at YC for more granola to finish my yoghurt. Shameless, i know.
SPOON kicks TuttiFruitti's ass anytime. I used to frequent TF quite a bit and tastewise, its totally different. TF is 'icy' where I can feel the frozen water bits in their froyo but with SPOON, its smooth spooning ALL the way! So SPOON wins in terms of taste, texture and toppings.

SPOON even has a menu for you fickle peeps who can't decide on which toppings you want.
A bit more expensive than TF buy hey, you get what you pay for, right?

Good stuff! Now if only they opened one closer to home :D

I am rarely at Mid Valley or Gardens but it yesterday was the first day of SALE where I work and all of us office robots have to all help out on the selling floor. Well it is a nice break from sitting on my ass working on schedules, photoshoots, modelshoots, casting, fashion meetings, reading mags, looking at advertisements, production of materials.. Okay who am I kidding, my job is pretty good (: but still it's a nice change- albeit a little boring when it's quiet.
I get to dress up/down at work and I dont mean the typical formal skirt suits where you only rotate the collared shirt daily with neat hair. Here's what I wore:
Leopard top: Supre
Bodycon skirt: F21
Stirrup leggings: DDH
Heart ring: Diva
Suhali double leather bracelet: Louis Vuitton

SALE is on every.friggin.where.I.turn. How do I save for my trips?!??
Bag? Trip? Bag? Trip? Make-Up?

Grrr...

Redecorating!

One of the things I ♥LOVELOVELOVE♥ to do!

I used to do it once every 4-5 months when I had my own place *insert happy face* but since I've been back, I havent had a chance to do so. Mostly cause I live with my parents and I dont get full control of where I want what to be.

My sis and I were away for quite some time so we decided when we moved into our new home, to share a bedroom and to convert the other room to a Dressing Room! So the Sleeping Room is all white, with much sunlight and our sheets are covered with roses. Think Shabby Chic. While the Dressing Room has a deep red wall with dark wood wardrobes, dressing table and a lazy chair even.

But all that's about to change now cause we're going to split the rooms! My sister will be back for Summer and I have to work- so we dont want to get into each other's schedules and disrupt sleeping hours.

So! I am excited because I loveeee rearranging furniture. I love making a space look new and fresh which is why I move stuff around/buy little deco items every few months. I want my new room to look something like this..

white, (look) clean, fresh, shabby chic..

with a corner to snuggle up with a good book..

this is overdone.. are the 2 little beds supposed to be for their pets? maybe Jagi would be interested for Melbie and Coco.. haha

We've taken one bed out of the room and I'm hoping to finish by end of next week? It should turn out better than the current layout. YAY!

Also, I get to arrange my sister's room so- DOUBLE YAY!

Funny how such a mundane thing to most can actually get me excited. I'm not planning to replace any furniture or buy anything major- just a few small things here and there. I do need a nice alarm clock though. Been searching for one since I moved back A YEAR AGO. I want something old looking and classic.. these days everything looks so modern.

"Rouge" launch at work today. Wanted to put on red pumps instead but my feet might hate me by the end of the day- so comfy wedges I decided on!

FACE ON/OFF

"Wake up, put on my make up."

So true in my case.

I look about 17 here...

My last night out partying in Melb.. it was some Nerd themed night. Im gonna miss the non-smoking clubs.

Since Ive been back my skin is going from bad to worse :( its not overly oily but yet Im breaking out. Im even getting little bumps on my forehead which arent visible and I havent had those since I was 17! Im currently using Kawaii-Tokyo's range and Ive even started to double cleanse everynight, thing is this range is meant to brighten your skin- which its doing, my skin doesnt feel tight but it does nothing for my acne. I've tried Proactive, Mario Badescu, Biotherm, Clinique, Shiseido and who knows what over the years but nothing seems to work, they just made my skin really tight and sensitive. I need something which is for sensitive skin yets combats acne. So, does anyone have any suggestions?

ROAST!

Two nights ago, I made roast lamb for the first time ever and it was a success! The ex-bf made it for me a few times (yeah, hes a better cook than I am) and I finally decided to make my own using his recipe. My sister and her boy lovedit so much that we're making roast again tomorrow. Yum!

rosemary so I used more than required..

may not look it, but it was really juicy.. mMmm

I got my wish, it rained the whole day and was cccc-cold!

its currently 10 degrees as I type.. (:

my sister we used to be able to pass of as twins

Its going to be a cold week, cant wait to break out the jackets! Woohoo! I've also bought some diamantes and crystals online after reading this and having a look at her other projects. Inspiration (: Imma bling my nails and maybe my camera/phone.

Moomba Waterfest starts tomorrow! Ive been going every year since Ive been in Melbourne, not so much for the rides/carnival food but more to see the lights, sounds and people. Feels nostalgic everytime Im there.. as if Im a kid again. Okay will post pictures after the weekend, hopefully roast tomorrow turns out good. My sis is going to attempt it this time because I have been making dinner almost everynight this week! Wish her luck!
