Skincare: La Mer

A La Mer kinda weekend...

The Treatment Lotion
The Regenrating Serum
The Radiant Serum
The Eye Concentrate
The Moisturizing Lotion
The Moisturizing Gel Cream
Creme de La Mer

Still in the process of clearing out travel/sample sizes. I usually introduce products into my regime one by one, that way I can pinpoint any specific product which might cause skin irritation.

However, La Mer's skincare was developed to treat burn marks, so I reasoned it should be okay for sensitive skin even if used all together.

Will report back if my skin experiences drastic improvement.

SHISEIDO: Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate

Been so long since I've used anything from Shiseido! The last time was when I was still a teen and I remember persuading (hounding relentlessly more like it) my mother to get me the 3-piece kit from their Pureness range (probably lured in by the box set which none of the other brands had).

Yes, that is I floating in the reflection LOL
Almost every Asian skincare brand has a "pre-serum", here's an excerpt of what the Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate is:

"The ultimate concentrate for enhancing skin's inherent multi-defensive power against signs of aging, environmental factors and daily stress.
Day by day, your skin becomes smoother and more resilient making wrinkles less noticeable and your complexion appears to glow with more radiance than ever.
Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate is for all women of all ages. It works with your skincare to boost the benefits of your regimen, no matter your concerns.
Shiseido's exclusive Ultimune Complex helps boost defensive functions that have declined in Langerhans Cells, the cells that hold the key to promoting skin's multi-defensive power.

In one week, skin appears to glow more than ever.

In 4 weeks: firmness and resilience are improved, making wrinkles less visible.
Apply morning and night after cleansing and softening the face.

When using other serums, apply Ultimune first to enhance the benefits of the following treatments."

The ingredient list doesn't look very promising for sensitive skin users (alcohol is second on the list!) but I was assured it would be okay. Tested it out for a week, applied 3 pumps religiously day and night. It absorbs fairly well and my face was left smooth but not in a silicone-y way. The floral scent is detectable but in no way overwhelming.

Mighty claims and though it didn't break me out or encourage oiliness, my skin didn't look quite changed. Somehow it was plump-ed up but my BB cream didn't look as smooth on. I did not experience any irritation with this product. The glass packaging is lovely on the counter but butter-fingers should beware. It has slipped my toner-wet-fingers at least once in the past week.

A summary of the "pre-serum"s that I've used:
SK-II Facial treatment Lotion: My face started breaking out on the second bottle, and the scent took a while to get used to.

Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum: My favourite of the lot, has a herbal scent but I like it, also absorbs very well. My skin liked this the best!

Clarins Daily Energizer Wake-Up Booster: Discontinued in Asia but I still have a bottle left. The scent is refreshing (orange?) and very light as well. It says to use before toner but I use it after.

Next on the list are: La Mer Treatment Lotion as well as the Estee Lauder Micro Essence.

If you've tried the above but haven't found a suitable pre-serum, this could be the product for you.

Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate is priced at RM255//30ml and RM355//50ml.

Mini Holika Holika Haul & Shoes!

I know I've said ONLY HIGH END BRANDS! on my face but I caved in when Holika Holika opened at Isetan KLCC.

I had zero intention of buying anything but as I played with their products (especially the 3 Seconds Starter) I noticed that the patch of skin I tested it on was significantly supple and hydrated compared to the surrounding skin. I was sold.

I couldn't decide if I wanted the Hyaluronic Acid or Collagen so I got them both. I will be writing a review for this soon, it is actually a light gel which is used after you wash your face, before your toner.

The Water March moisturizer smells really nice, and I am willing to risk it on my face as the texture is light and non-greasy. If it doesn't work out I would be happy to use it on my body. Also in my basket was a concealer (comes in 2 shades only), a foot peel and 3 lip jellies (balm).

The foot mask/peel is AWESOME! It works just the same as the popular Japanese one they sell at SaSa but at half the price. I am not going to post up gross pictures of my feet so you will have to Google it for yourself.

Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Tint Bar in #Cherry

The lip jellies reminded me of the CLARINS ones which have yet to make it to Malaysia. Holika Holika has quite a few interesting products, plus my sensitive face is looking more supple and has not reacted badly to the Hyaluronic Acid lotion at all, so I would definitely recommend it to other people!

Cosmetics aside, my second weakness are shoes! I have a "2 out, 1 in" policy as I am trying to downsize my shoe collection. These are from Charles & Keith, their shoes are very durable and affordable. Guess which 2 I bought? They have been sitting in my room for a month already.. time to break them out!

P/s: There isn't a JagiBOY in my life at the moment, but there may be a Ja**iBOY in the future. HAHAHA. I am over the heartaches, and there hasn't been a tear since the night A* married. Am thankful for my family, my best friend, girlfriends, guyfriends, and especially J* for without his existence, I wouldn't have had so much laughter to pull me through the rougher days. Thank you guys for everything.

Fixing my skin..

Battling with acne as a teen can be horrible but battling acne as an adult is even worse! I have struggled with acne since I was 14, from the tiny pesky bumps to the cystic painful ones which make you cry, I have had them all.

Along the years I have tried many products: Oxy, Akne-mycin, Proactiv, Clinique, Mario Badescu.. you name it, I most probably have tried it. At 16, I was regularly taking pills from a skin doctor to keep my skin clear. I stopped after 2 years thinking they were gone for good. I was wrong! They came back eventually, and it got so bad- to a point where it hurt so much and there were clusters of bumps on my cheeks, forehead, even chest. Waking up to blood on my pillowcase was nothing new.

One doctor recommended Roaccutane but I was hesitant because of the side effects. After some research I decided to take birth control pills to control my hormones. Within a few months, everything cleared up. They worked very well, my skin looked SO GOOD.

Then about 5 years ago, I started to become more aware of the things which I put in and on my body and I figured if the problem is internal, the more reason for me to heal naturally. Taking pills didn’t fix my acne, it just suppressed it. So I stopped taking the pills and tried more natural approaches. I still get break outs these days, but they aren’t as raging and clustered anymore.

All the harsh acne skincare I used over the years has left my skin very sensitive, dry (on the surface) and to make matters worse there are many tiny bumps under the skin along my jawline. I would upload pics, but I will spare you the horror (note: it looks like milia but dozens and dozens of them. Ick). The beautician whom I visited mentioned that they were all “stuck” under my skin because the surface is too dry and I need to soften the layer of skin before they can pop out.

Many people think that suppressing pimple is better than having it grow and pop. I feel that the saying “better out than in” applies here. The reason why a pimple forms is because the pore is congested, so if all you do is push it back down the hole, it WILL come back out- so why not get it out and let it heal (using the proper products, not squeezing and poking- that only damages your skin).

My skin condition has never bothered me (much) because my cheeks and forehead are relatively clear and who notices/looks under your jaw anyway? But the older I get, the more I feel the need to get rid of these bumps. I want to maintain my skin and let it be the best it can be. I can fake a smooth face with makeup but I would much rather have a smooth canvas to begin with.

So, yesterday I picked up the credit card and signed up for an intensive facial package. A huge chunk of my saving is gone, but it will be worth it. Using luxurious serums and skincare will not get rid of these impurities, and not to mention be a total waste on my current skin condition. Into storage they go.. (waves to SK-II) for now. The beauty house which I signed up with gave me a cleanser and moisturizer which would be better for my skin. I’ve never heard of the brand Tedoger before so I did a little Googling..

“Lab TEGOR was founded in 1933 in Spain. Combining the reach of traditional medicine and naturopathy, the company has developed unique solutions using natural ingredients under professional cosmetological line TEGODER COSMETICS. Created in their own labs, these products which combines skincare, spa therapy and homeopathic remedies are for salon and home use.

Our products are the reflection of the perfect combination of the most modern and rigorous natural active principles.”

I've used them last night and this morning (they smell lovely! despite the weird name) and will write more on the products I am using. Before pictures were also taken this morning so hopefully I will see improvements in a month.

Maybe sometime in the near future I will be able to pluck up the courage to post these pictures. Wish me well on my journey to achieve clear skin!
