CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Cream Compact Review! & Beige 565 Polish

Between my sister and I, we have tried almost all the foundations produced by CHANEL- Mat Lumiere, Pro Lumiere (discontinued, super sad), Perfection Lumiere, Vitalumiere Aqua (Liquid), Vitalumiere Eclat, and Teint Innocence (also discontinued). *Phew*

The only 3 we have not are: Vitalumiere Aqua (Cream), Vitalumiere (Liquid) and Lift Lumiere. I am actually bummed that Pro Lumiere has been discontinued, and although everyone is raving about Perfection Lumiere which has replaced it (even my sister!!), I somehow don't quite love it. I tested it out over a week using different applications, with base, no base, misting, layering.. but I still couldn't love it. The lovely SA suggested I try Vitalumiere Aqua in the cream formula instead and gave me some samples to take home.

After using it for a few days, here are my thoughts..

Sealed

What is it? (from website)
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua, Fresh and Hydrating Cream Compact Makeup SPF 15

Claims? (from website)
A water-based formula which blends effortlessly and offers the lightness and radiance of a fluid, with the convenience of a compact. The complexion is immediately hydrated and smoother, with a look of natural, flawless radiance and a comfortable feel that lasts all day.

How to use it?
Apply over primer/base with the sponge provided/brush. Alternatively you can dab on with the sponge and blend with your (clean) fingers.

Things to note?
There is a typical Chanel scent which goes away after a while. It is a cream so remember to keep it away from the heat/sun.

My review: I used the sponge to apply this. It has a cream-to-velvety finish on my skin and the texture is very easy to work with. Immediately the face feels "moist", and it is very comfortable to wear. However, despite being a high coverage foundation, it just did not sit very well on my lower cheeks! I don't know if it is because the area is not moisturized enough, but after I set it with loose powder, I can see little clumps of the foundation. It's like it will not absorb into my skin! I've tried using a different base/no base but it is the same.

Conclusion: I really wanted to like this, but I don't think it works well with combination skin. Coverage is good, my acne scars were covered well and the texture is also easy to work with. It feels very comfortable on my face. Am so glad I got some samples before buying this blindly. I've read many good reviews about this product so maybe it is just me.

Insta-Karma

"Karma is an "intentional action" and refers to the universal law of cause and effect. Karma is created not only by physical action but also by thoughts and words.

Just as action causes reaction, karma causes effects that come back to the original actor. Karma also tends to generate more karma that reaches out in all directions. We bear the consequences of the karma we create, but everyone around us is affected by our intentional acts as well, just as we are affected by theirs."

I believe in karma, and how everything we do unknowingly affects others but ultimately it ends with us again. Something like the butterfly effect.

This is what happened over the weekend at a dog-friendly park where I live:

A Husky was waiting quietly tied to a pole when TinyDog (unleashed) came along. TinyDog started barking at Husky non-stop and after a while, Husky started barking back too. They were such a nuisance because they were so loud! Throughout the barking competition, TinyDog's owner was just standing at by side smoking his cigarette. Not once did he pull his dog away nor did he attempt to placate it. It was very obvious TinyDog was provoking Husky (whose owner was probably in the convenience store nearby).

A while later, TinyDog finally stopped barking and huddled towards the owner, only to take a dump. Any responsible owner would know to clean up the mess, but not this owner. He completely ignored what TinyDog did and continued on puffing away. When he was done, the threw the cigarette butt on the floor (there is a trashcan nearby) and stepped on it. It was obvious he was waiting for someone because once he spotted his lady friend coming out of the store, he quickly motioned for her to get into the car (parked very close). He hopped on with TinyDog and the lady came soon enough.

As luck would have it, she stepped directly into the poo. I swear. The same dog poo that the man refused to pick up. And she didnt even bat an eyelid and got up the car. With the soiled shoes. How gross is that? #1, how can someone not realize they just stepped in some squishy pile? #2, she brought poo INTO the car!!

I laughed out SO LOUD! Not only will the car be soiled, the couple would have to sit through their journey smelling poo. Think of the mess they'd have to clean up. Hilarious!

Never have I seen/heard Karma make its way around SO quickly. Insta-Karma!

Lesson: If you choose to be ignorant, be prepared to face the consequences. For every action has an equal or greater reaction. You are accountable for everything that you do.

I am accountable for everything that I have done. There are no fingers to be pointed, no one to place the blame on. So people, let's be a little kinder with our words and a little more conscious in our actions and thoughts.

Spread positivity rather than negativity!

One of my fave songs!

Empties: April 2012

APRIL empties!! I am starting to get the hang of this.. and honestly, it feels gratifying when I find myself finishing a product. I have been really good too; the only beauty products I bought in April were from Holika Holika and a HadaLabo lotion.

I was also gifted a few Chanel polishes which I have struck off my list (Blue Boy & Base Coat), oh and I picked up a bottle of Dior's Saint Tropez. Beautifulllll. Chanel has just launched their Summer 2012 Makeup Collection in KL, I will only be taking home Delight, with a few other older polishes.

1. ASIENCE Hair treatment
This Hair Treatment used to by my HG product until I found Essentiel. It works very well and you do not need much. Repurchase? Yes, if I am unable to find the Essentiel mask.

2. MA CHERIE Air Feel Shampoo, 200ml
Picked this up in Taiwan, it smells really nice but I didn't think it was moisturizing enough for my hair ends. Other than the sweet scent and packaging, there wasn't anything special about this shampoo. Repurchase? Maybeeee *stares at pretty packaging*
3. WELLA Luminous Mask, 200ml [Discontinued]
I'm a sucker for hair masks, always looking for the next best treatment- purchased in Winter/Spring 2010 Melbourne as I visited unprepared and the wind/cold was making my hair very dry. This works like a dream, so smooth and soft but doesn't leave your hair flat or greasy. With other masks my hair feels soft, but this feels "restructured" from the inside out. Repurchase? Yes, too bad it has been discontinued.

4. BATISTE Dry Shampoo (Fresh), also reviewed here

5. WELLA Platinum Gloss, 40ml
Smells nice, but I would not go near any "high shine/gloss" products anymore. Nothing wrong with the product, it is silicon based and rinses off easily but I just don't like the look it gives. It has been sitting in my stash for so long, its time to bin it! Repurchase? No.

6. SUNSILK Damaged Hair Reconstruction, Trial Size
This shampoo is supposed to "penetrate and fill holes and cracks in each strand", sounds awesome but I didn't think it was that great. An OKAY shampoo for my hair. Repurchase? Nope.

7. BOBBI BROWN Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner
My absolute HG eyeliner, this is the only liner which does not smudge, budge, nor irritate my sensitive eyes. I can have it on for 24 hours and it will still look awesome. I have this in Black, Brown and Blue. I have been using this since 2003! Repurchase? Not if I can help it; the price is rather steep so I will be looking into cheaper gel liners (Maybelline, Kate?).

8. TOPSHOP Lip Polish (Lavender)
This was a gift with purchase from Topshop so I didn't get to pick the colour. The texture and scent is alright but I just couldn't get the colour to work. I've tried layering on top of lipsticks but it just doesn't look good on me, a little too frosty for my liking. Thrown out! Repurchase? No.

9. HAZELINE SNOW Moisturizing Cream
This probably my very first moisturizer growing up, my mother used to put it on everything.. sunburnt skin, rashes, to calm skin down, as a spot treatment for pimples, etc. I bought this a while ago to try and treat my acne (Face, calm the F down!), it still smells the same as when I first used it many years ago *nostalgic*. it didn't help with calming my face down so I used it on my chest at night. Repurchase? Probably not.

10. LANEIGE Sebum Control Primer, Trial size
Works quite well at controlling oil and preps the face with a smooth base for make-up application. Repurchase? Maybe.

11. MODEL CO Lip Lights (Pink Sea Shell)
I really really like this gloss, it has a LED lights which turn on when it is opened. Great for touch ups in the clubs/low lit rooms. The gloss isn't sticky as well and plus it has a side mirror. The only reason I am binning it is because I have not used in for the past 3 years and it is time to go! Repurchase? No, because I rarely use gloss anymore.

12. KISS ME Heavy Rotation Eyeliner (Black) Pretty good, pigmented and the pen is easy to use; you just shake and draw on. It lasts relatively longer than the other liquid liners I have used, plus it does not irritate my eyes. Repurchase? No, I have tried pencils, liquid and gel.. and my fave is the gel, so I will stick to that.

Mini Holika Holika Haul & Shoes!

I know I've said ONLY HIGH END BRANDS! on my face but I caved in when Holika Holika opened at Isetan KLCC.

I had zero intention of buying anything but as I played with their products (especially the 3 Seconds Starter) I noticed that the patch of skin I tested it on was significantly supple and hydrated compared to the surrounding skin. I was sold.

I couldn't decide if I wanted the Hyaluronic Acid or Collagen so I got them both. I will be writing a review for this soon, it is actually a light gel which is used after you wash your face, before your toner.

The Water March moisturizer smells really nice, and I am willing to risk it on my face as the texture is light and non-greasy. If it doesn't work out I would be happy to use it on my body. Also in my basket was a concealer (comes in 2 shades only), a foot peel and 3 lip jellies (balm).

The foot mask/peel is AWESOME! It works just the same as the popular Japanese one they sell at SaSa but at half the price. I am not going to post up gross pictures of my feet so you will have to Google it for yourself.

Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Tint Bar in #Cherry

The lip jellies reminded me of the CLARINS ones which have yet to make it to Malaysia. Holika Holika has quite a few interesting products, plus my sensitive face is looking more supple and has not reacted badly to the Hyaluronic Acid lotion at all, so I would definitely recommend it to other people!

Cosmetics aside, my second weakness are shoes! I have a "2 out, 1 in" policy as I am trying to downsize my shoe collection. These are from Charles & Keith, their shoes are very durable and affordable. Guess which 2 I bought? They have been sitting in my room for a month already.. time to break them out!

P/s: There isn't a JagiBOY in my life at the moment, but there may be a Ja**iBOY in the future. HAHAHA. I am over the heartaches, and there hasn't been a tear since the night A* married. Am thankful for my family, my best friend, girlfriends, guyfriends, and especially J* for without his existence, I wouldn't have had so much laughter to pull me through the rougher days. Thank you guys for everything.

And they say..

Am a month late but one of my bestest friends got married recently!

The ceremony took place in a Buddhist temple; it was an intimate event with close family and friends present. Vows were read, rings were exchanged, signatures were penned, and many many pictures were taken.

I teared when the groom (also a long time friend) gave a mini speech proclaiming his love for her. It was short and sweet but very touching mainly because I was there watching their relationship grow. From US to Melbourne back to KL, it feels like just yesterday we were partying it up in Melbourne!

The celebrations continued with lunch at Shangri-La, where the hotel set us up in a private area facing the gardens.

She is the first in the group to tie the knot, and I am so happy for her to find someone who will love her unconditionally. I know married women are usually not asked to be bridesmaids but I will most definitely have her as one of mine (when I do get married) because she is someone I hold very dear. We have known each other for almost 15 years now; and whoever said "Time flies when you are having fun" wasn't kidding.

I am so grateful and blessed to have someone like her in my life.

True love isn't solely about wanting to be with each other, but how your partner makes you want to be a better person for yourself, and each other. To have someone who believes that you can achieve so much more than you dare to imagine is someone worth having and loving.

Congratulations to two dear friends!
